Karen Tsuchida, RN III, is a well-versed registered nurse who attends to patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in Los Angeles, California. She serves as Pediatric Registered Nurse and she joined CHLA in 1985. Karen has an impressive professional journey that spans thirty-seven years. Her areas of expertise cover pediatric nursing, surgical care, and orthopedic nursing. Prior to her current endeavors, she was Registered Nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas (1983-1985). “I work on a 32-bed medical-surgical unit, which cares for all levels of acuity and complexity as well as sub-specialty groups of patients seen on our unit. We see all areas of surgical patients, but we are the primary unit that cares for orthopedic patients especially spinal fusions and the neurosurgical patients, i.e., external ventriculostomy drain. Additionally, I provide education for the unit in the form of Skills Labs, Inservices, and Mock Codes. Lastly, I am part of a newly formed In-situ Mock Code Simulation Team and Rolling Refresher,” says Karen about her work at CHLA. Throughout her many years in practice, she has upheld a steadfast commitment to the ethical and professional standards of her work.
